A Session on the Current Risk Landscape

RIMS NZ & PI Chapter would like to invite you to a session exploring global risk, ESG, impacts on D&O and risk inter-dependencies.

Our speakers:

  • Peter Curtis (Control Risks) will cover geopolitical tensions, cyber risks and operational challenges, and what businesses need to consider to monitor, manage and mitigate these risks.
  • Nigel Grantham (Marsh) will be covering changes to the directors and officers insurance, and the current landscape.
  • Cory Davie (Control Risks) will go through the ESG landscape and look at the issues, risks, and opportunities for businesses.
  • Alex Kuhnast (KPMG) will discuss how the risk environment has changed and some approaches to identifying and managing risks in an increasingly uncertain global environment.

Their bios:

Peter Curtis is a Director for Control Risks based in Sydney, specialising in advising security risks solutions to companies operating in challenging environments. He is responsible for building and strengthening client relationships across Australia and New Zealand. Peter has spent his professional career consulting with corporate clients, NGOs and government agencies, helping them plan for and operate successfully in international locations. Supporting Australian and New Zealand companies as they look to enter new markets, Peter has led project and country risk assessments and developed programmes to strengthen workforce mobility and  resilience and to manage critical business issues and crisis situations.


Nigel has specialised in liability insurance for 30 years. He has also worked in the London market for 8 years negotiating International Professional Indemnity cover for various professions both within the Lloyds market and London Company market. Additionally he has travelled (pre covid) to the UK twice a year to negotiate and place 3 of the 4 largest law firms in New Zealand and the largest consulting engineer in New Zealand. Nigel has been involved in negotiating and placing some of the largest infrastructure construction projects in NZ over the last 30 years. He also has experience in handling and structuring significant D&O placements for plc’s and large private companies, and dealt with numerous capital raising insurance requirements, M&A’s and IPO’s for clients. In 2010 Nigel was awarded insurance broker of the year; an achievement recognised through his contribution to the insurance industry and through client feedback.


Cory Davie is the head of the Control Risks business and the client services team for Australia Pacific. She leads the client engagement across Australia Pacific based clients, supporting Australian companies as they look to enter new markets, strengthen their compliance and resilience and manage critical business issues. Prior to joining the Sydney team, Cory headed up the client team in Control Risks’ London headquarters, where she led the oil and gas sector for Europe and Africa.


Alex is involved with various industry working groups and actuarial bodies. He provides actuarial and risk training on behalf of the International Actuarial Association and is involved in the actuarial education programmes of both the UK Actuarial Profession and the South African Actuarial Profession. Alex joined KPMG New Zealand in June 2022 to head up the actuarial consulting practice.
